Atlanta Baptist College was founded in 1968 under the leadership of Dr. Monroe F. Swilley, a prominent Baptist educator. The college merged with Mercer in 1972 and became the College of Arts and Sciences, and in 1984 was named the Cecil B. Day College of Arts and Sciences. Mercer offered undergraduate liberal arts education in Atlanta until 1990 when the college closed. Faculty and students tried to prevent the closure, but were not successful. The mission of the Atlanta campus changed to graduate and professional education.

Located a stone's throw from Philadelphia, Villanova is centered in Augustinian tradition. Villanova's business school consistently places near the top of "Best Of" lists, and their men's basketball program is pretty accomplished as well, winning two national titles since 2016. With eight Fulbright scholars during the 2018–19 academic year, Scripps College is a leader in producing scholars who qualify for that program. Ninety-four percent of students at this women's college live on campus, which is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
